Dan is the chair of the business legal practice group at Mayo Clinic. Dan's practice encompasses commercial transactions, virtual medicine and e-health, privacy, copyright and trademark protection, and print and digital publication. Dan also serves as the legal counsel for Mayo Clinic's industry-leading social media initiatives, including the newly established Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media.
Dan is a regular lecturer on legal problems relating to social media, and he recently spoke on two panels about social media issues at South by Southwest Interactive (SXSWi) in Austin, Texas. Dan earned a BA in English from UCLA in 1985 and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1988.
