Damien Spizzo Biography

Damien is an Australian native. He has considerable playing and coaching experience. As a junior, he was ranked in the top three in Australia. In the Australian Junior Open in 2000, he advanced to the Round of 16. Before declaring amateurism for college, he had an ATP ranking in the top 1000. He opted to attend the University of Southern California on a full scholarship from 2000 to 2002. He was a member of the National Championship team in 2002. He subsequently went to the University of Tennessee, where he was ranked as high as number six in the nation. For the 2004 season, he was named an ALL-SEC and an ALL-AMERICAN. Damien has defeated top players including as former world number one Lleyton Hewitt and current top-ranked American John Isner. Damien's most recent competitive competition was the National Men's 30s Hard Court Championship, which was held in Austin, Texas. Damien has the unique distinction of becoming a Master of Tennis. He earned this accreditation after completing a year of intensive training in dealing with high-performance athletes. Damien has coached over 100 NCAA D-1 scholarship players, both present and former. Damien is collaborating with former junior and pro star Stephanie Mabry to launch Elite Tennis Academy at Lakeway in Austin, TX. Tennis's World I was just named Team Texas Head Coach for the USTA Boys and Girls 16 Zone Team Championships, which will be place in Waco, TX, from July 24 to July 28, 2013.
