Stocking has led Oxfam GB since May 2001. The organisation delivers development and humanitarian work in over 60 countries and is part of a global force that calls for those with the power to act against the causes of poverty. Overseeing an annual income of more than £300m and more than 4,500 paid staff based all over the world, she has provided strong leadership within the organisation, and within the global Oxfam International confederation.

She regularly attends meetings with leaders of the G8, IMF/World Bank, UN and World Economic Forum and sits on a variety of UN committees overseeing humanitarian and development work. In December 2010 she was appointed as a non-executive board member by the Cabinet Office.
