Cynthia Lord is a children's author who was born in New Hampshire. Lord's first novel, Rules, was released in 2006 by Scholastic, Inc. and was a 2007 Newberry Honor book and winner of the Schneider Family Book Award. Cynthia Lord's career as a writer began at the age of four, when she collaborated on a song with her sister.
The tune was dubbed "Ding Dong the Cherries Sing," and everybody within a 12-mile radius was compelled to listen to them sing it over and over again. Lord describes her as a daydreamer and a timid youngster who would always be thankful for the time and space her parents provided her to be alone.
