Cynthia G. Brown is Vice President for Education Policy at American Progress and was the director of the Center for American Progress and the Institute for America's Future's "Renewing Our Schools, Securing Our Future National Task Force on Public Education." Brown has worked in a number of professional roles addressing high-quality, equitable public education for more than 35 years.
She worked as an independent education consultant for local and state school systems, education groups, foundations, nonprofit organizations, and a company before joining American Progress. Brown was the director of the Council of Chief State School Officers' Resource Center for Educational Equity from 1986 until September 2001.
