C.W. Metcalf is a well-known author and performer. Metcalf began his career as a member of his own traveling theatrical company in the mid-1970s. Metcalf obtained a job writing and performing for children's television in Los Angeles not long after.
Metcalf shifted gears after many years of working in Los Angeles during a visit to the Center for Attitudinal Healing in California. Metcalf was sent to write a script on the treatment of terminally sick children, and he was impressed by the children's cheerful perspective. In the early 1980s, Metcalf began giving comedy and wellness workshops to local hospice groups.
