Cristeta “Cris” Comerford—a Filipino-born American chef—became the first Asian-American woman to serve as White House executive chef in 2005. The position allowed her to serve five presidents from George W. Bush to Joe Biden while managing both daily family dining and 54 state dinner menus.

Cris was born in Manila during 1962 while she learned cooking from her mother and sisters after discovering her love for cooking during summer visits to her grandparents' farm. She arrived in the United States at age 23 to start her culinary career in Chicago hotels and Washington restaurants before perfecting French cooking techniques in Vienna.
