Courtney Cogburn

Courtney Cogburn is a tenured Associate Professor at the Columbia University School of Social Work, a faculty member of the Columbia Population Research Center, and co-chairs the Computational Social Science Working Group at the Data Science Institute. She employs a transdisciplinary approach, integrating psychology, social epidemiology, media studies, and data science to study racism’s impact on health inequities.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia, an MSW and Ph.D. in Education and Psychology from the University of Michigan, and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard and Michigan. She leads the Cogburn Research Group and co-directs the Justice Equity + Tech Laboratory.
