Colleen Shogan is an American author, political scientist, and academic. She served as the 11th Archivist of the United States from May 17, 2023, to February 7, 2025, becoming the first woman confirmed in this role. A first-generation college graduate, Shogan earned a B.A. in Political Science from Boston College and a Ph.D. in American Politics from Yale University.
Her career includes roles as a legislative staffer in the U.S. Senate, a senior executive at the Library of Congress, and director of the David M. Rubenstein Center at the White House Historical Association. She authored “The Moral Rhetoric of American Presidents” (2006) and the “Washington Whodunit" mystery series (2015-2021).
