Hagan, a 6-4 big with a strong hook jumper, spent his whole 10-year NBA career with the St. Louis Hawks (1956-1966). In the first two years of the ABA's existence, he also served as a player coach with the Dallas Chaparrals (1967-1970). Hagan attended the University of Kentucky and played basketball for famed coach Adolph Rupp.
He was a sophomore in 1951 when Kentucky defeated Kansas State 68-58 to win the NCAA Championship.
