Professor Charles Spence is a world-famous experimental psychologist specialising in neuroscience-inspired multisensory design. Since establishing the Crossmodal Research Laboratory in 1997 at the Department of Experimental Psychology Oxford University he has worked with many of the world’s largest companies and brands.
Charles has been awarded numerous national and international prizes for scientific excellence (including the 2008 Ig Nobel prize for nutrition) been featured in more than 3000 newspaper articles/radio interviews/television programs published over 750 articles and edited or authored 10 academic volumes including the prize-winning The Perfect Meal and Gastrophysics.Professor Spence is interested in how people perceive the world around them and in particular how our brains manage to process the information from each of our different senses (such as smell taste sight hearing and touch) to form the extraordinarily rich multisensory experiences that fill our daily lives.
