Dr. Kupchan works at the Council on Foreign Relations as a Whitney Shepardson senior fellow (CFR). He is also a professor of international affairs at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and Government Department. During the first Clinton administration, Dr. Kupchan was the director of European affairs at the National Security Council (NSC).
He worked on the policy planning staff of the US Department of State before joining the NSC. He was an assistant professor of politics at Princeton University before joining the government.
