Chanel Iman is an American actress who was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her father is African American, while her mother is half Korean and half African American. Iman began modeling as a child model with Ford Models in Los Angeles, California when she was 13 years old.
In 2006, she went to New York and placed third in Ford's Supermodel of the World competition. She joined the agency shortly after that. Iman first featured on the cover of Teen Vogue in February and July 2007, alongside Karlie Kloss and Ali Michael, shot by Patrick Demarchelier, and then again in November 2009, this time with Jourdan Dunn.
