Chad Fredrick Wol?is an American lobbyist and retired government official who was appointed as the acting Secretary of Homeland Security in November 2019. In November 2020, his nomination was declared unconstitutional. From 2019 to 2021, Wolf served as the Undersecretary of Homeland Security for Planning, Legislation, and Plans. Wolf, a Republican, formerly worked for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), both as the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) chief of staff and as the chief of staff to DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. He worked as a lobbyist from 2005 to 2016, assisting clients in obtaining TSA contracts. In 2018, Wolf was a key architect of the Trump administration's family separation scheme, and he played a key role in the implementation of federal law enforcement forces in Portland and other cities starting in July 2020. He was accused of ordering workers to stop commenting on Russian attacks in September 2020. Wolf was vice president and senior director at Wexler & Walker, a now-defunct lobbying agency, from October 2005 to 2016. His former employer, the TSA, assisted customers in obtaining contracts. He earned a master's degree in government contract administration from Villanova University in 2013. Villanova University now refers to this as a Certificate of Contract Management to avoid confusion with a Master's degree.
