Cécile Shea is president of Wakaru Communications and is a non-resident senior fellow on security and diplomacy at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Shea served as a US diplomat for more than two decades having worked in various capacities for the US Marine Corps Forces Pacific US Embassy Tokyo US Embassy Islamabad US Consul General Edinburgh US Mission to Israel and the office of Senator Joe Lieberman. Since retiring from the Foreign Service Cecile has developed a deep interest in improving social studies education in the US and encouraging high school and college students to pursue careers in public service. She frequently makes media appearances as an expert on security issues the future of US diplomacy and what the robotics revolution will mean for societies around the world.
