The Cataracs are a hip-hop indie-pop band from Berkeley, California, led by Niles Cyranizzy Hollowell-Dhar, a songwriter, vocalist, and producer. Niles and David Campa, a former member of the band, When Benjamin Singer-Vine was a sophomore at Berkeley High School, they met. Singer-Vine was included on a rap CD being circulated on campus.
When Dhar finally heard the CD, he responded by writing a song. The "diss" answer, on the other hand, brought the two together, and they quickly became friends. In 2003, the two came together to form The Cataracs, a reference to Snoop Dogg's song What's My Name Pt. 2. They released their debut album, Technohop Vol.
