Previously, he was a senior editor at The Verge (2013–2020), where he wrote a daily newsletter called "The Interface" and covered Silicon Valley. Before that, he worked as a blogger and senior writer at CNET until 2013 and covered tech for the San Francisco Chronicle after starting his career at The Arizona Republic. In 2022, he began co-hosting the New York Times podcast "Hard Fork" with Kevin Roose.
