Dr. Caroline Buckee joined the Harvard School of Public Health as an Assistant Professor in the summer of 2010. Caroline was an Omidyar Fellow at the Santa Fe Institute and a Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oxford. Dr. Buckee's research focuses on the population dynamics of genetically varied disease species such as malaria and meningococcus.
To understand the link between the development of these species and the epidemiological patterns of viruses and bacteria in human populations, she used a variety of modeling approaches. By analyzing mobile phone data, epidemiologist Buckee has discovered a technique to track the spread of malaria in Kenya.
