At Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Carlos Capistran is the head of Canada and Mexico economics. Capistran frequently comes out on top in investor polls and projection surveys. In 2016, he was named #1 in the 2016 Institutional Investor Research Poll for Mexico and Latam Economics, as well as #1 in forecasting inflation in Mexico, according to Bloomberg.
Prior to joining the BofAML in 2011, he worked at Banco de Mexico as the director of macroeconomic analysis and as a senior research economist. Capistran has co-authored chapters in the Oxford Handbook of Economic Forecasting and the MIT Press book The Great Recession: Lessons for Central Bankers.
