Calvin Mackie is an award-winning mentor, inventor, author, former engineering professor, and entrepreneur dedicated to STEM education equity. Overcoming a reading disability in a home where books weren't accessible, he earned a B.S. in mathematics from Morehouse College, graduating magna cum laude, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech.
He taught at Tulane for 12 years, researching heat transfer, before founding STEM NOLA, a nonprofit providing STEM workshops and mentorship to underserved youth in post-Katrina New Orleans. Co-founder of Channel ZerO Group, he authored "A View from the Roof" (2005) and "Grandma's Hands" (2012).
