Jim Everett, a 12-year NFL quarterback, was born in Emporia, Kansas on January 3, 1963. Everett was drafted in the first round of the 1986 NFL Draft after attending Purdue University. The Houston Oilers took him third overall in the first round, making him the first quarterback drafted that year.
The Oilers were unable to reach a deal with Everett and traded his rights to the Los Angeles Rams, with whom he played from 1986 through 1993. From 1994 to 1996, he was with the New Orleans Saints before finishing his career with the San Diego Chargers in 1997.
