Butch, Bryan David Vig is an American musician, composer, record producer, and remixer best known for being the drummer and co-producer of the alternative rock band Garbage, as well as the producer of Nirvana's diamond-selling album Nevermind.
Vig, a native of Wisconsin, has spent much of his career in Madison, from studying at the University of Wisconsin to performing with local bands Spooner and Fire Town, and eventually opening his own recording studio, Smart Studios, with bandmate Steve Marker.
