Burt Shavitz is a Maine-based beekeeper and photographer. Burt's Bees was developed in 1984 by him and graphic artist Roxanne Quimby. She made personal care goods with his beeswax. She also designed the iconic image of Shavitz that can be found on many of the company's goods today.
