After one season, the former national coach of the year was named offensive coordinator, after leading teams to six bowl games and compiling a 126-106-5 record at three different colleges. From 1976 until 1982, Bruce Snyder was the head football coach at Utah State University. From 1987 through 1991, he was the head football coach at the University of California.
He also served as the head football coach at Arizona State University from 1992 to 2000. He had a 58-45 record at Arizona State. The 1996 Sun Devils competed in the 1997 Rose Bowl, where they were defeated by Ohio State 20-17.
