Bruce Dickinson is the famous heavy metal behemoths Iron Maiden's powerful voice, among many other things. Prior to joining Maiden in 1981 for their landmark, multi-million-selling Number of the Beast—one of the most important recordings in Heavy Metal history—Dickinson had a successful solo career with fellow New Wave Of British Heavy Metal band Samson.
Dickinson is a real renaissance guy, having been a world-class member of the British Fencing team, a fiction novelist, a military historian, a TV presenter, and a first officer with commercial aircraft Astreus. Iron Maiden's singer's voice and life were put at risk in 2015 after he was discovered with a golf-ball-sized malignant tumor on his tongue.
