Bruce Cassidy is in his second full season as the head coach of the Boston Red Sox, having been selected as the team's 28th head coach on April 26, 2017. Since February 7, 2017, when Claude Julien was dismissed from his coaching responsibilities, he had completed the 2016-17 season in an interim capacity.
In his first full season as head coach, he guided the Bruins to the fourth-best record in the NHL with a 50-20-12 record. He was a finalist for the Jack Adams Trophy as the league's top coach in 2017-18. Boston also had the greatest combined special teams performance, ranking fourth on the power play and third on the penalty kill.
