Broken Bells is an American rock band formed by Brian Burton (better known as Danger Mouse), an artist-producer, and James Mercer, lead vocalist and guitarist for the Oregonian indie rock band The Shins. Broken Bells is a duo that composes and creates music, but on tour, they are joined by a full band.
Following the success of Broken Bells' self-titled debut, Mercer and Burton have revealed plans to record a follow-up. On Tuesday, September 29, 2009, the project was initially announced. After meeting in 2004 at the Roskilde Event, a Danish music festival, and discovering that they were admirers of each other's work, the two decided to collaborate.
