After the demise of AC/longtime DC's lead vocalist Bon Scott in 1980, Brian Johnson joined the band. Beginning with his debut album with AC/DC, Back in Black, which is now recognized as a rock classic and the second best-selling album of all time (global), he is credited for pushing the band in a more heavy metal path.
It, along with his following albums with the band, cemented his reputation as one of rock music's most recognizable and imitated voices. Johnson was a member of the Newcastle glam-rock band Geordie before joining AC/DC in 1972. The band disbanded in 1978 after a string of successful singles, but Johnson reformed it in 1980.
