Brian joined Flagship in 2015 after completing the VentureLabs® Fellows program. At Flagship, Brian works with VentureLabs partners as part of a venture creation team, exploring innovative ideas and opportunities, and developing critical scientific and business components that will lead to the firm’s next breakthrough startups. Before joining Flagship, he completed his doctorate in Biology in Matt Vander Heiden’s lab at MIT where he focused on using metabolomics and enzyme biochemistry to discover novel metabolic regulatory mechanisms that enable biomass accumulation in tumors. He is an author on over 10 scientific manuscripts.
Brian served as a scientific consultant for Flagship portfolio company Agios Pharmaceuticals in 2012 and 2014. Before his PhD, he was an Associate Consultant at Bain & Company, working with pharmaceutical, hedge fund, and industrials clients. He holds an A.B. summa cum laude in Biochemical Sciences with a secondary field in Economics from Harvard University, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. While at Harvard, Brian swam for the Men’s Swimming and Diving team and was co-captain his senior year.
