He is a Mexican-Serbian football coach, and he is one of only two people in history to have managed five different World Cup teams: Mexico (1986), Costa Rica (1990), the United States (1994), Nigeria (1998), and China (1998). (2002).
He is also the only coach to advance four separate teams through the first round, before failing to do so with China, earning him the moniker "Miracle Worker," which was bestowed to him by Alan Rothenberg, then-president of the USSF. Milutinovic was in serious talks to take over the national team in his home Serbia in the summer of 2003.
