Bobak Ferdowsi works at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a systems engineer. He was a member of the Cassini–Huygens and Curiosity missions on Mars. Ferdowsi earned a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Washington. He performed research at the Department of Physics under Nobel Laureate Hans Georg Dehmelt.
He enrolled at MIT in 2001 and became a member of the Lean Aerospace Initiative, where he remained until 2003. Ferdowsi joined JPL in late 2003 and worked on the Mars Science Laboratory mission until it landed successfully on August 6, 2012, over nine years later. He was also the Cassini–Huygens mission's Science Planner.
