Flying saucers would very certainly float about like the disc in this video if they existed. Physicist Boaz Almog of Tel Aviv University in Israel demonstrated how a superconducting plate may be set in 3D space while levitating above a track of permanent magnets at the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, earlier this week.
But it's not only magnetic repulsion at work: when the magnets are switched over, the disc can also stay hanging upside down. The video has gone viral over the previous several days, although the impact is completely explainable by physics rules.
