Tomnitz left a promising career in finance (he worked as an analyst at UBS and KKR) to be as he calls it a nomadic homebrewer for two years. The trial and error period paid off: it allowed him and his over-30 cofounder to perfect Five Boroughs' recipes. They refurbished a 15000 square foot plant in Brooklyn to serve as a production facility and a taproom. The company draws sales from that taproom and also through a wholesaler who distributes Five Boroughs beer across the city.
