Born in San Diego, California, Tulloch spent her young years living overseas in Spain, Uruguay, and Argentina until she landed in New York for middle and high school. She attended Harvard University and graduated Magna cum laude with a double major in Literature and Fine Arts.
During a trip to Sydney just before her sophomore year of college, Tulloch landed her first professional acting job. R2D2 Beneath the Dome, a mockumentary written and produced by George Lucas, portrayed her as R2D2's girlfriend. David Greenwalt (Buffy, Angel) and Jim Kouf developed the show (Ghost Whisperer, Angel).
