Billy Costa Biography

Costa was born and raised in East Cambridge, Massachusetts, and attended Cambridge High and Latin School. He received a hockey scholarship to Merrimack College in Massachusetts, where he majored in English. He got a job as a disc jockey at a neighborhood bar after going to Emerson College in Boston. Later, he became a DJ at Emerson's WERS radio station. Costa worked at a few different radio stations after graduating from Emerson with a degree in English, including WBOS, before approaching WXKS-FM Kiss 108 in 1980 with a proposal for a lifestyle/entertainment news show. Billy began working as an entertainment and lifestyle writer for KISS 108 in 1980. For the last 15 years, he has co-hosted the Matty in the Morning program with Matt Siegel, and he is also the popular host of the KISS Top 30 Countdown of Today's Hit Music. Costa's television career has included entertainment reporting for WBZ-4, where he got an Emmy nomination for his work on Evening Magazine and won a Children's Television Award for the youth-oriented chat show Rap Around.
