Bill Jordan Biography

Bill grew up in the Columbus, Georgia area. He was a track, basketball, and football standout at Columbus High School. Before graduation in 1969, Bill was an All-State receiver. Many prominent institutions pursued Bill, but he chose Ole Miss, where he played wide receiver and caught passes from football star Archie Manning. Bill returned to Columbus after graduating from Ole Miss to work for his family's boat shop, Leon Jordan Marine. Bill founded Spartan Archery Products in the rear of his family's boating company in 1983. The firm designed and produced archery apparel and accessories in simple forest and WWII camouflage designs that were fashionable at the time. At the same time, Bill started creating and refining Realtree, the world's most effective camouflage pattern, which he debuted at the 1986 Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show. Bill developed the original Team Realtree emblem in the late 1980s to ensure that readers understood which camo they were seeing in publications. Hundreds of goods, including Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick's racing vehicle, now bear the Team Realtree logo. The “Realtree Outdoors” television show premiered on national television in 1992. Realtree became a sponsor of Richard Childress Racing's #31 car, driven by Mike Skinner, in the mid-1990s, which led to associated sponsorships of Dale Earnhardt's #3, Kevin Harvick's #29, and numerous more vehicle sponsorships and merchandising partnerships in subsequent years. Bill created Immersion Graphics Corporation in 1999, which applies camouflage and other ornamental patterns on a range of hard products such as ATVs, bows, and firearms using a hydro-graphic film technique. Bill has always valued sports, and his accomplishments have garnered him several awards. Bill was inducted into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 for his remarkable sports accomplishments at Columbus High School and Mississippi State University. For his efforts on and off the field, he was inducted into the University of Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. Bill was also awarded the Distinguished American Award by the Ole Miss Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in 2012, which is given to people who have applied the skills acquired on the football field to a life of community and business service. Bill and his family live in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife, Shannon, and their three children.
