Ben Fry is the founder and CEO of Fathom, a Boston-based design, and software firm. He earned his doctorate from the MIT Media Laboratory's Aesthetics + Computation Group, where he worked on integrating areas including computer science, statistics, graphic design, and data visualization to better comprehend information.
After finishing his thesis, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Eli and Edythe L. Broad Institute at MIT and Harvard alongside Eric Lander, developing methods for visualizing genetic data. Ben was the Nierenberg Chair of Design for the Carnegie Mellon Academic of Design during the 2007 school year.
