Barbara Krasner Biography

Since August 1998, she has contributed to the International Review of Jewish Genealogy, B'nai B'rith International Jewish Monthly, Dorot, Family Chronicle, Family Tree, Genealogical Computing, Generations, German Life, Heritage Quest, Russian Life, Writer's Digest, The Writer, and a number of newspapers. She contributes to Family Chronicle and Heritage Quest Magazines as a Contributing Editor. Arcadia released her first book, Images of America: Kearny, New Jersey, in February 2000. In June 2001, Heritage Quest released her second book, Discovering Your Jewish Ancestors. In 2002, Krasner co-authored the chapter "Decoding Genetics: Your Family's Health History" for Michael Friedman Publishing Group's Celebrating the Family: The MyFamily.com Guide to Understanding Your Family History. Images of America: Kearny's Immigrant Heritage, her third book, was published in November 2003. The Kearny Public Library and Its Town: A Pictorial History, a new book to commemorate Kearny's public library's 100th anniversary, will be released in June 2007. Krasner is a frequent contributor to children's magazines focusing on Judaica, history, and science, such as Appleseeds, BabagaNewz, Calliope, Cobblestone, Footsteps, Highlights for Children, and Odyssey. She graduated from Vermont College's Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults program in January 2006. At the Highlights Foundation in Pennsylvania, she runs an annual article writing class. She is now writing a young adult book and a biography for young readers on the Jewish immigrant experience in Newark, New Jersey. She gives history lessons at Kearny area schools on a regular basis. Krasner has over twenty-five years of experience in the publishing and communications sectors. She graduated from Douglass College at Rutgers University with a B.A. in German and is a Phi Beta Kappa member. She is presently Director, Customer Advocacy Marketing at Alcatel-Lucent and is a Toastmaster with an M.B.A. in Marketing from Rutgers University.
