Hoàng u Phng, also known by his pen name Bo Ninh, is a Vietnamese novelist, essayist, and short story writer best known for his debut novel, The Sorrow of War, which was translated into English. He was a member of the Glorious 27th Youth Brigade during the Vietnam War.
He is one of 10 survivors from a brigade of 500 men that went to war in 1969. Bo Ninh released a collection of short stories called Tri by ch lùn (Camp of Seven Dwarves) in 1987.
