Ashton Lewis has come a long way since his father sent him to racing school at Sears Point Raceway (now Infineon Raceway) in California when he was 17 years old. Lewis received the opportunity to participate in the Skip Barber Formula Ford Midwestern Series after beginning his racing career in go-karts.

Lewis' success came quickly, as he won two games in his rookie season. Lewis dominated the series in its second year, winning 14 of 16 races. Lewis was awarded a Team USA racing scholarship as a result of his achievement, and he competed in the British Formula Ford Championship, finishing 15th out of 176 drivers.
