"I was so taken aback by what I watched him perform on the computer that I became attracted to making music right away!" This is a man whose enthusiasm for music is unfettered and unwavering. Armin van Buuren is a perfectionist by nature, constantly working to improve the scene he helped create.
He is one of the most prominent personalities in EDM globally as the flag-bearer of the trance movement. He has always been a down-to-earth man, despite living an incredible life as one of the world's most popular DJs.
Armin van Buuren is always on the go, whether he's in his studio making music or on his way to his next high-end club or festival event around the world. "It's not simply a liking for music; it's my passion," Armin says. It's more than just a like or a pastime. It all boils down to a way of life.
"Music is a need in my life." The Grammy-nominated Dutchman has been living to the beat of his own worldwide triumph for more than 20 years.
His five-time top spot in DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs Poll is a consequence of his devotion to his fans, his studio inventiveness, the dedication with which he conducts his weekly radio show 'A State of Trance,' and the enthusiasm he gives to the people in front of him.
Despite the enormous pressure that comes with being one of the world's most well-known DJs, Armin has always remained focused on the music. And it's just this that keeps him going. Armin credits electronic pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre, as well as Dutch producer Ben Liebrand, who subsequently coached him in mixing and producing, as key influences.
Armin believed it was prudent to have a backup plan at the beginning, so he pursued a legal degree. His last year of study was inevitably extended as he juggled his academics with an increasingly rigorous schedule; his rise to prominence included several creations and remixes, as well as weekend performances in front of crowded clubs.
It took him three years to graduate, but his perseverance paid off. Despite having a Master's degree in law, Armin's life has always revolved around music. "I believe it is my obligation to promote trance as a genre, and I want to help in whatever way I can," Armin says. Music should bring us together.
I'll keep going as long as the music keeps growing as it is, and I don't see any reason to slow down." Armin van Buuren puts his complete emphasis on the music, the crowd, and how the two will merge as soon as he enters the DJ booth, no matter how many hours he has traveled to be there.
The atmosphere brightens as the beats of his first record begin to play, and chanting begins to fill the air. He has developed his own sound and style through seamless mixing, making his DJ performances genuinely one-of-a-kind.
Not just with his demanding schedule, but also through his 'Armin Only' and 'A State of Trance' globe tours, he brings millions of people together. His hectic schedule as a DJ has influenced countless people, both personally and professionally.
In 2009, Dutch author Coen Bom published 'Eén op één' / 'Armin Only,' an on-the-road biography of Armin in which he reported on Armin's frantic existence and attempted to uncover the secret behind the humble Dutchman's huge success. In late 2014, Armin received 4x Platinum certification on his ASOT Year Mix series.
Armin began the weekly 'A State of Trance Podcast' with a selection from the previous edition of the radio program, ensuring that listeners never missed any highlights. Every Sunday, Armin presents a 24-hour radio day dubbed 'A State of Sundays,' which is broadcast on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, one of the largest radio stations in the United States.
A State of Sundays also offers its audience the sets and radio shows of other prominent DJs and skilled musicians, in addition to the A State of Trance concerts. Armin locks himself up in the studio whenever he isn't on tour or spending time with his daughter Fenna and son Remy.
He explores the frontiers of EDM with his originals and remixes, giving substance to his famous remark "Don't be a prisoner of your own style." Some of his most well-known compositions, including 'Communication,' 'Burned With Desire,' 'Blue Fear,' 'Shivers,' and 'Yet Another Day,' have become highly regarded classics that have stood the test of time.
Armin van Buuren has given his fans a new gift after giving them with a new Armin van Buuren. Armin announced the name of his forthcoming artist album during his ASOT radio show on Thursday, September 3rd, 2015. The album will include a Rising Star record ('Safe Inside You' feat.
Betsie Larkin), an official remix of the 'Game Of Thrones Theme,' and a collaboration with Electronic Music Pio-neer Jean-Michel Jarre ('Stardust'). Armada Music has grown into one of the most diversified record companies in Electronic Music in its twelve years of existence, with over 50 workers working tirelessly to assure Armada's continued success.
Armin still acts as A&R for the Armind, WAO138?!, and A State of Trance labels despite his busy schedule.
