Aree Song competes on the LPGA Tour as a professional golfer. Her father is South Korean, and her mother is Thai, hence she is a child of mixed heritage. She is presently a South Korean citizen who has competed for Thailand in junior team competitions, however, she has lived in the United States for most of her life.
Song was a golf prodigy as a kid, setting a lot of junior age records. She became the youngest player to win any United States Golf Association tournament when she won the U.S. Girls Junior Championship at the age of thirteen in 1999.
