Anthony Greenwald earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1959. He moved on to Harvard for his master's degree and stayed there until 1963 when he received his Ph.D. Greenwald began his career as a teacher as an associate professor of psychology at Ohio State University in 1965, eventually rising to full professor in 1971.
In 1986, Greenwald took a job as a Professor of Psychology at the University of Washington, where he continues to lecture. Psychological Review, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology: Attitudes and Social Cognition, and Consciousness and Cognition are among the journals on which he has served on the editorial board.
