Since November 2005, Annika Falkengren has served as president and group chief executive of the Swedish bank Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB). Falkengren graduated from Stockholm University with a bachelor's degree in economics. She joined SEB as a trainee in 1987, worked in the Trading & Capital Markets division from 1988 to 2000, and was head of the Corporate & Institutions division from 2001 to December 2004, when she was appointed by the board to succeed Lars H. Thunell as Group Chief Executive on January 1, 2006, while also serving as Deputy Group Chief Executive. Thunell assumed office on November 10, 2005, after leaving for the World Bank. Falkengren is also a director of Ruter Dam and the chairwoman of Enskilda Securities AB. A member of the Mentor Foundation and the IMD Foundation's board of directors. Annika Falkengren was identified as a candidate for the Volkswagen Group's Supervisory Board in 2011. Munich Re then announced that Annika Falkengren will be appointed to the company's Supervisory Board. The media has frequently emphasized her femininity, attractive appearance, and the fact that she gave birth to a child in 2005, just a few months before taking over her current job.
