She became one of the first 100 women assigned to the 82d Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC, graduated from the Jumpmaster Course, earned her Senior Parachutist Badge, and received a Direct Commission to the Medical Service Corps, becoming a medevac helicopter pilot, flying Hueys and Blackhawks.
