The Lappes are also co-founders of the Small Planet Fund, which has raised over $500, 000 for democratic social movements throughout the world, two of which have received the Nobel Peace Prize since the Fund's inception in 2002. Anna is a frequent guest on nationally syndicated radio and appears often on television, including PBS, CBC in Canada, and FoxNews.

Anna is the host of MSN's Practical Guide to Healthy Living and a co-host of The Endless Feast, a public television series. She's also been featured as an expert on Howdini.com, the Sundance Channel's Big Ideas for a Small Planet, and the PBS documentary Nourish: Food + Community.

She has been on hundreds of radio shows, including Weekend Edition on National Public Radio, The Diane Rehm Show, Talk to America, and WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show and Leonard Lopate Show. Anna has taken part in over 300 events since 2002, ranging from neighborhood food festivals to university lectures.

She has spoken at a number of schools and institutions, including Boston College, Brown University, Columbia University, Dominican University, Northwestern University, Wesleyan University, and Yale University. Anna's first book, Hope's Edge: The Next Diet for a Small Planet (Tarcher/Penguin 2002), was co-written with her mother, Frances Moore Lappe, and profiles daring social movements all around the world.

Hope's Edge, winner of the Nautilus Award for Social Change, has been translated into many languages and is utilized in dozens of schools from Telluride to Toronto to Tokyo.

The New York Times called Anna's second book, Grub: Ideas for an Urban Organic Kitchen (Tarcher/Penguin 2006), "ingenious." It highlights the ecological and social benefits of sustainable food and brings this diet to life with chef Bryant Terry's seasonal meals.

Anna's work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The International Herald Tribune, and The Globe and Mail in Canada. Anna has also written for Food Inc., World Changing: A User's Guide to the Twenty-First Century, and Feeding the Future: How the Battle Over Food Will Change Your Life.

Anna has received several awards for her writing and campaigning. Organic Style magazine called her one of the nation's leading environmental changemakers, and Contribute magazine named her one of the 21 Under 40 Making a Difference in 2006. Anna was awarded the Compassion in Action Award by the Missing Peace Project in 2007. Anna holds an M.A.

in Economic and Political Development from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, as well as a bachelor's degree in economics from Brown University. She was a WK Kellogg Foundation Food and Society Policy Fellow from 2004 to 2006. She now works as a Senior Fellow at the Oakland Institute.

Her spouse and their daughter, Ida, live in Brooklyn, New York. Diet for a Hot Planet: The Climate Crisis at the End of Your Fork and What You Can Do About It, her third book, to be released by Bloomsbury in April 2010.
