Ann Curry is an award-winning American journalist and former television anchor known for her compassionate reporting on humanitarian crises, wars, and natural disasters. The daughter of a U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese mother, she graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Oregon in 1978. Curry spent over 25 years at NBC News, serving as a news anchor on the “Today” show from 1997 to 2011 and later as a national and international correspondent. She has reported from conflict zones including Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Darfur, and Somalia, as well as major disasters like the Southeast Asian tsunami, the Haiti earthquake, and the Japanese tsunami. A seven-time Emmy winner, she received the Edward R. Murrow Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. After leaving NBC in 2015, she continued with PBS documentaries, such as “We’ll Meet Again” (2018), international reporting, photography, and humanitarian work.
