Angela Mclean studied Mathematics at Oxford and earned a PhD in Biomathematics from Imperial College, London. In 1990 she became a Royal Society Research Fellow at Oxford and then, in 1994, was on secondment at the Pasteur Institute in Paris.
She then became head of Mathematical Biology at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Councils Institute for Animal Health and in 1994 Professor of Mathematical Biology in the Department of Biology at Oxford.
