Andy Holder (AKA Iron Andy) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 36. There was no warning and no family history. He was determined to conquer this condition as a husband and father of two young boys, and he was not going to let it limit his life in any way.
Holder made the decision to do something special in order to excite and inspire those who are suffering from diabetes or any other chronic illness. Despite never having done a triathlon before and not knowing how to swim, he chose to take on the Ironman triathlon, which is often regarded as the ultimate test of mental and physical endurance.
