B Lab is a nonprofit organization dedicated to harnessing the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. B Lab drives systemic change through three interrelated initiatives: 1) building a community of Certified B Corporations that meet rigorous and independent standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency; 2) promoting supportive public policies that create the legal infrastructure for sustainable businesses to thrive, including legislation creating a new corporate form; and 3) developing the Global Impact Investing Rating System (GIIRS) in order to help drive institutional investment capital to the emerging asset class of impact investments.
Before leaving the private sector to form B Lab with two long-time friends and college mates, Jay Coen Gilbert and Bart Houlahan, Mr. Kassoy spent 16 years in the private equity industry. He served as a Partner at MSD Real Estate Capital, an investment vehicle for Michael Dell, as Managing Director in Credit Suisse First Boston's Private Equity Department, and as a founding partner of DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners.
